Bonnaroo Sale Haul

I survived Bonnaroo!

*  Note:  I did not wear flip-flops during the actual festival.  I wore these (affiliate link, but product is sold out), which are awesome.

I had a very good time at the festival...the camping went off without a hitch, thanks in part to your suggestions and in part to the fact that we joined forces with a very experienced group of Bonnaroovians before heading to the festival, and the group we joined up with had all of the basic camping necessities covered.  I think we could have gotten by with a minimal number of food-related provisions, though; food at the festival was delicious and reasonably-priced.

I can do a fuller run-down of the festival if folks are interested, but in the meantime (and given the somewhat clothing- and shopping-based slant of this blog) here's what I bought at Target on my way down to Manchester, TN to wear during the weekend:

Bonnaroo/Target Sale Haul

Because obviously matching bralettes was top on my list of camping necessities :-D

Friday Fleeting Moment of Fun-day

Ever wonder what happens when you try to tell Siri, "Set an alarm for 2am" with a mouthful of toothpaste?
^ that. :-)
I'm en route to Bonnaroo this morning, but it's looking like I'm going to miss my connecting flight! I may end up taking a last-minute road trip from Charlotte to Manchester... (Ugh, air travel, how I hate you so.)
Have a good weekend, all!

Quickie OOTD: Purple Blazer, Take Two

Another Tuesday, another hectic week, another week falling behind in catching up on my blog-reading...

Eeesh, I'm sorry if I haven't been around your blog lately...I'm about to give up working my way through these past entries!

Here's a quickie recent outfit I enjoyed...

In this Outfit:
Madewell Dress
Thrifted Blazer
J.Crew Factory Wedges
Marc by Marc Jacobs Marci Watch (on sale for $169 here (affiliate link))
Ann Taylor Loft Necklace
Kate Spade Desert Stone Bangle
Kate Spade Lever-Back Earrings

I bought this blazer while thrifting, and it called to mind a certain other purple-ish thrifted blazer that did not fare so well on its maiden voyage...

Remember that one?  Let's not and say we did.

Yes, much better.

OOTD: The Politics of Jeans Day

It's jeans day in our office today.

In this Outfit:
Style & Co. Blazer; Anthropologie Blazing Top; Sold Denim Jeans; Seychelles Code Pumps; Thrifted Necklace; Kate Spade Bangle; Thrifted Earrings

This may come as a surprise to those of you who have been with me for a while and have borne witness for my love of pushing the boundaries of business casual, but I actually HATE jeans days.  I feel flat-out inappropriate wearing jeans to the office, and at our firm so few of the partners participate that it almost feels like a trap.  Sure, we are allowed to wear jeans (and we donate money to a charity in exchange for the pleasure), but aren't we still being judged for dressing down?

A blazer will cure all ills.

The last time our firm had a jeans day (many months ago), I skipped it and wore business casual.  That didn't solve the problem, though, since I felt just about as weird being one of the few associates not wearing jeans as I would have felt running into a business casual partner while sporting my denim.  This time, I felt I had to participate since today's jeans day is raising funds for a road race I am helping to organize.

Also, these thrifted earrings are super fancy-looking.

A friend of mine at a different firm offered an intriguing comment on an associate's duty to participate in a jeans day:
Hardly any of the partners do it in my group either, but if all associates do it they can't judge you, which is my point.  So do your part for your fellow associates.  Some of them may be like me and it is the only day all month they don't hate.
I'd never thought about jeans day as a class solidarity type of thing, but her argument makes a lot of sense, and ultimately persuaded me to wear jeans today.  Along with most of the other associates.  And frankly, it does feel a bit like everyone who is wearing jeans is sharing a wink and a smile today.

It still feels a bit weird, but I'll admit that I am super freaking comfortable.

What do you guys think of jeans days at the office, if you have them?

(Also, I'm wearing my new Kate Spade bag for the first time today!  I LOVE it, although I will fully admit that it is kind of ridiculous and I don't know how much I will wear it.  Which, wonderfully, was the reason I passed on it the first time so I feel somewhat justified in my initial decision (thus wiping out two years of agony) and at the same time I am happy with my acquisition (which was sweetened by said agony that clearly I still hang onto on some level).  Also, it holds a LOT of stuff.)

A Few Weekend OOTDs

Hello, e-buddies!  How has your week been treating you?  The last few weeks have been a hit parade of exciting events in both work and life, and the next few weeks look to be even more exciting!  Bonnaroo is just a week away, and then there are some big work-related events in the coffer for the end of the month.  Eeeeeee -- I can't wait!

In the meantime, I've got a few weekend outfits to show you.

Memorial Day weekend, an old friend from Miami came into town and we spent a day sightseeing:

In this Outfit:
Gap Shirt
Ann Taylor Loft Textured Maxi Skirt (here) (FYI, I'm 5'5.5 and this skirt is juuuuust the right length.  Any shorter than me and you may be stepping on the hem) (here* in petite small, pink color only, for $33) (also, there seems to be a decimal point missing in the affiliate link info for this product...there's a chance that if you buy it, I will make $577.  If that happens, I will have a huge giveaway on the blog.  HUGE.)
Anthropologie Beaded Denim Jacket (here*, sold out)
Kate Spade Necklace
J.Crew Hat (similar*, or with a feather* for $30)
Kate Spade Metropolitan Pearls Drop Earrings (purchased in the recent suprise sale!)
Kate Spade Gatsby Dot Short Mini Scatter Necklace (also purchased in the sample sale)
Kate Spade Baxter Street Priscilla Bag
Payless Chelsea Flats (here*) (TTS)

I recently rediscovered this straw hat, which I bought last year, sitting in my closet with the price tag still on it.  The dangerous thing about sale shopping is I often end up buying things out of season and run the risk of forgetting I own something by the time the proper season rolls around again.  I had actually been oogling straw hats at Eastern Market lately!  Good thing I found mine before I shelled out any more money.

This past weekend, I was in Florida visiting family, so I donned my beachiest non-beach outfit:

In this Outfit:
Forever 21 denim top (also worn here)
Free People Dress (old)
J.Crew Factory flats (old)
Marc by Marc Jacobs Marci Watch
J. Crew Hat (similar*, or with a feather* for $30)
Kate Spade Gatsby Dot Short Mini Scatter Necklace
Kate Spade Studs

Love me some Kate Spade jewelry:

I've been getting a LOT of wear out of this cute little necklace.  It's so delicate-looking and adds a nice bit of glitz to my outfits.

Speaking of glitz, I think it's time for me to admit to being wrong on something.  (No, not this jacket, which I am still convinced will be AWESOME in the fall.)  In my post about the Kate Spade sale the other week, I pointed out this purse, which I described as "kind of hideous but hugely marked down":

I truly could not imagine this bag working for any actual person at the time I wrote the above.  But then I went home for the week and unbeknownst to me, my mom had purchased the purse and WAS ROCKING IT.

In Mom's Outfit:
Ralph Lauren tank and shorts, Mel by Melissa Flats, Kate Spade purse, miscellaneous jewelry.

Right?  RIGHT?  It's TOTALLY WORKING.  So, I take it back, and apologies if I prevented you from buying what is actually a super-cute, fun bag.  Looking at this photo, I'm actually kind of regretting the decision not to buy.

(Although I do think Florida can be a bit of a twilight zone when it comes to clothes and accessories.  You can wear things down there that work AMAZINGLY well that just don't seem to fly anywhere else.  Sources tell me that even buyers for big department stores like Nordstrom buy completely different types of merchandise for South Florida stores because the trends are so outrageous down there.  Another good example is this Kissing Cockatoos Bangle, which looked sort of absurd online but which my sister wore in Florida and it looked freaking perfect.)

Ahhh, warm-weather style, how I love you!
