Sophisticated Faux Pas: A $100 Shopbop Giveaway (ft. Milly NY Dresses)

You are getting a clear message from the universe this week: it's time for you to win a $100 Shopbop shopping spree. (Alright, perhaps $100 is not quite a spree. How about a jaunt? A $100 Shopbop Jaunt. Sound good?)

So far on my blog roll, I have seen two Shopbop giveaways (one at Consume or Consumed and the other at Chic on the Cheap). And now here I am joining in the fun!

Shopbop asked me to profile a few categories of their clothing, and I couldn't help but notice the subsequent daydreams some of these clothes inspired. Unfortunately, my day dreams are utterly realistic, so I found myself admiring fine designer pieces and imagining not only the fine and sophisticated experiences I would have while wearing them, but also the embarrassing social faux pas I'm sure I would commit inside these pieces:

The scene: a garden party for the Elizabethan Club, of which I am actually a member IRL. (Allow me: "What is this, Stuff Connecticut WASPs like?") I am chatting up several 80-year olds about the virtues of Proust when one of the ladies compliments me on my lovely dress. (Milly's Kristen Trapeze Back Dress). Slightly buzzed on cucumber sandwiches, I giddily point out that the dress makes me feel like a swinger. Because of the name of the dress. But the women have all fainted at the mention of shared sexual partners while their 80-year old male companions remain to give me lecherous looks over a plate of Milano cookies. (More Milly NY Dresses).

I win all three Shopbop giveaways and splurge on this Kiki de Montparnasse "corselette" (here). Later, I show it off to my boyfriend, who proceeds to admire it. When I point out my favorite feature about the top, which is the extended bit of fabric that goes down past the underwire, my boyfriend looks quizzical. "What piece of fabric?" That's when I look down and realize that the extra fabric has rolled up comfortably inside my top roll of belly fat, never to be seen again. (More Kiki De Montparnasse lingerie).

I buy these Falke Delicate Toeless Tights but become frustrated that most people will not have the opportunity to see the cute Lacey detailing on the tops and bottoms. I proceed to walk around the office barefoot wearing these tights, daisy dukes, and a conservative J.Crew button-down top (to balance things out). I do not post the OOTD. (More cute hoisery).

Okay, here's what you have to do to win $100 from Shopbop:

  • Become an official follower of this blog using google friend connect (hit "follow" in the right sidebar where you see all the small glowing faces of readers) or using bloglovin or the following mechanism of your choice.
  • Leave a comment in this entry to win! Mention which platform you are using to follow the blog. (GRF, bloglovin, etc.)
  • I prefer if you include contact information in the comment, but as Jess points out if you would prefer not to do this for privacy reasons, just make sure you check back to see if you've won. Otherwise I will select another winner.
This giveaway will end on Friday, May 11 at noon. I will randomly select a winner and announce the winner that afternoon!

The giveaway is open to all readers, including international readers.

Good luck!
